Creating an engaging newsletter is only half the job, to drive the success of your platform, you need people to open the email. How do you get people to open an email? An enticing subject line!

Here are some top tips for writing a great subject line:

• Ensure it highlights the best story of the week

• Don't make it too long otherwise it may get cut off in people's inboxes

• Don't use capitals or overuse punctuation - this can make an email seem like spam and you run the risk of it ending up in junk mail or being instantly deleted

• Use newsletter reporting in the Content Management System to look back over your past sent communications. Which ones had the highest open rates? What sort of subject lines did you use there?
