A guide to Featured Content

What should be included? How often should it be updated? Find out all you need to know here.

Your platform homepage includes a Featured Content section to showcase your best content and events to your members. It's likely to be one of the first things they see when logging into the platform so it's key to make sure you're capturing their attention here.

What should I include in the Featured section?
The very best content of the week! Use it as a tool for promoting the following types of content:

  • Onsite events

  • Building announcements

  • Competitions

  • Local retailer news

  • Community news

  • Occupier news and interviews

  • Polls and surveys

In short, any piece of content that is specific to your building or area that you want users to engage with.

What should be left out?
We recommend not including the following types of content:

  • Events not affiliated with the building e.g a local food festival 

  • Editorial content

  • Content that is older than 3 weeks old

Note: Building Information posts cannot be added to the Featured section but they can be added to custom homepage feeds

How long should content stay in the Featured section?
It varies depending on how long the content is relevant. For example, a competition post should only stay featured for the duration of the competition. For other types of content without a specified end date, we recommend leaving it in the Featured section for a maximum of 3 weeks. It's important the content in this section stays fresh to keep users engaged.

How should I manage the Featured content?
There are two ways to manage Featured content:

  1. When ticking Featured News on a piece of content, also add an expiry date to the content. When this date has passed, the content will drop off the platform. Please note, this will remove the content from the platform entirely, so it's not the best option if you think users may try to find that content again.

  1. When you are ready to remove a piece of content from the Featured section, locate that content in our Content Management System and untick the Featured News box. This will remove the content from the Featured carousel and it will drop into the News Feed.

Note: Featured Events will automatically drop off the platform once the date of the event has passed.

You should review your featured content approximately every two weeks to check that all the content is still relevant and remove any pieces of content that should no longer be featured. We recommend setting a calendar reminder for the same time every 2 weeks so you don't forget!

How do I add or remove content from the Featured section if I haven't set an expiry date?
Locate the content in our Content Management System and either tick or untick the Feature News/Feature Event box on the right-hand side.
