Processing of Booking Points

You can use your Booking points to pay for SpaceOS bookings.

A booking currently means short-term reservation of a meeting room, but we're planning to extend the usage for other types of spaces and other transactions as well.

Note: When you create a booking, your points will only be deducted from your company's balance for the month in which the booking is to happen.

E.g. A booking created in February but starting in March will only freeze the Booking points for March.

The points will be consumed in two cases:

  1. Booking is cancelled - Booking points are then computed according to a room cancellation policy and consumed

  2. Booking has started/ cancellation period has ended - Booking points are consumed (subtracted from your company's balance)

Total Balance vs. Available Points

Total balance is the actual number of points the company has at the moment (NOW). Available points is the projected value for this month (END OF MONTH).

Company's total balance is the amount of booking points that a company currently has. It equals the amount of points from the beginning of a given month minus the points consumed by bookings.

Company's available points include all pending bookings (and the points that are locked by them) until the end of given month.

Overdraft

When you want to make new booking, it will be checked against your company's available points for the month the booking should start in. If the amount left is lower than the bookings price in points, two scenarios are possible:

  1. If your company does not support overdraft, the members won't be able to book for more than monthly allowance

  2. If your company supports overdraft, the user will see a message indicating the expected cost of that booking (using the Booking points currency mapping). In such case, SpaceOS creates an Expense object which is later used as a line item in your company's invoice for that month
