Custom Domains

SpaceOS offers plenty of options for customizing your experience using our products. One such option is creating a custom domain to use with our app.

There are 3 ways to go about it - by creating a spaceOS subdomain, by creating a subdomain of your website, or by creating a fully separate website. All of them have their own pros and cons, so let's take a closer look at them.

SpaceOS Subdomain

SpaceOS subdomain is a website that has the following address - yoursite.spaceos.io. We create a subdomain using http://spaceos.io , and you can use it as a website for the web version of spaceOS.

Why would you want to use it? Because it's the fastest custom domain type to set up and launch, no configuration is needed from your side. It is also much easier to maintain as we'll manage SSL/DNS on our own.

Why would you want to choose another way? The main thing is that you won't have complete control of this website, as we would be the ones hosting it. It would also water down your brand recognition, as it would be used alongside ours in the address.

What do you need to do to set it up? Nothing, just tell us that you want to use our subdomain, and our specialists will do the rest.

Subdomain of customer's website

Creating a subdomain for your main website is a pretty easy task that won't cost you much. However, it would require you to do a bit more work than just using a spaceOS subdomain.

Why would you want to use it? It costs less than creating a separate website, and it's fairly easy to create and configure.

Why would you want to choose another way? You'll have to manage SSL/DNS on your own, though it wouldn't be separate from your main website.

What do you need to do to set it up? You'll need to provide us with a wildcard SSL certificate and private key for your main domain, as well as set up a CNAME DNS entry on your domain's DNS configuration pointing to our internal URL.

Fully separated website

Creating a separate website would allow you to separately manage your main domain and spaceOS app.

Why would you want to use it? It would help you to separate your main website from spaceOS app without diluting your brand recognition.

Why would you want to choose another way? You will have to do all the work in setting up a new domain and managing SSL/DNS there. You'll also need to pay for a new website, unlike with subdomains.

What do you need to do to set it up? You'll need to provide us with an SSL certificate and private key for your main domain, as well as set up a CNAME DNS entry on your domain's DNS configuration pointing to our internal URL.
