What is Taxonomy?

Taxonomy is used to manage Segmentation, or targeted communications, on the basis of Groups and Attributes (also known as Interests).

Groups

Groups can be assigned to user profiles and can be used throughout the Equiem system for segmentation purposes. A user profile can have multiple groups assigned to it. Administrators can create groups, which form part of a catalogue available for all sites to use.

We have a selection of example groups, such as Fire Warden, Gym User, that can be applied to your site, or you can create your own groups in the Taxonomy section in Site Settings.

You can choose for a Workplace Manager to be able to assign that Group to a user when inviting them to the platform via Equiem One. To allow this, simply switch the toggle ‘Workplace Manager can assign group to employee’ to on.

Attributes

There are two types of attribute: User and Company.

Company attributes are tags that can be assigned to companies which can be used for segmentation purposes. We have a selection of example company attributes, such as Retailer or Co-Working Tenant that can be applied to your site, or you can create your own Company attributes in the Taxonomy section.

User attributes, also known as Interests, are tags that Users can apply to their own profile from both the Web and the Mobile app. We have a selection of example user attributes, such as Food & Drink or Wellness that can be applied to your site, or you can create your own User attributes in the Taxonomy section. You cannot add an attribute to a user profile, they can only add attributes themselves.
