Introduction to Interests & Attributes

There are two types of attributes/interests: User Interests and Company Attributes.

Company attributes are tags that can be assigned to companies which can be used for segmentation purposes. We have a selection of example company attributes, such as Retailer or Co-Working Tenant that can be applied to your site, or you can choose to create your own Company attributes in the Taxonomy section of the Site Settings.

User attributes, or interests, are tags that Users can apply to their own profile from both the Web and Mobile app. We have a selection of example user attributes, such as Food & Drink or Wellness that can be applied to your site, or you can choose to create your own User attributes in the Taxonomy section of the Site Settings.

Cross-Pollinated Content
Developing cross-pollinating content that can apply to a number of Interests is a useful way to target a number of interest groups at the same time. For example, a Nutritional Workshop may be segmented to the Health & Wellness category as well as the Self-Development & Learning category, and the Food & Drink category. This means you are able to appeal to three different interest groups, with one single piece of content.

Segmentation Frequency
For sites with a For Me feed, we recommend that once you begin segmenting by Interest, that you then ensure to use Interest segmentation at a consistent frequency moving forward to ensure that the For Me feed is always kept dynamic and relevant.

For sites without the For Me feed, content will be displayed in the relevant feed, e.g Event Calendar

As users assign themselves interests, be sure to check how many users a piece of content will reach before segmenting it exclusively to an interest group to ensure your content has the best chance of success
