Introduction to Active Usage

Active Usage refers to the number of users that are logging on to your platform(s) and is an important metric for measuring how well utilised your platform is and the reach it is having at your site.

Data relating to Active Usage can be found on the Overview & Portfolio tabs of Analytics Dashboards.

There are a few terms that relate to Active Usage that are important to understand:

  • Registered Users - the total number of users registered to your platform

  • Current Users - the total number of users that have been active on your platform in the last 12 months (if your platform is less than 12 months old, registered users and current users should match).

  • Active Users - the number of users that have logged into your platform across the selected date range

  • Active % - the percentage of Current Users that have logged into the platform across the selected date range

In the below example, Building X has 3,008 total users signed up to the platform. 1,494 of them have logged in during the past 12 months (Current Users). In the selected time period, 227 users logged in (Active Users) to the platform giving an Active Usage % of 15% (as 227 is 15% of 1,494 to the nearest percentage).
