Creating a Push Notification
Open the Content Management System and navigate to the Communications tab from the menu at the top of the page.
If you cannot see this tab in your menu, please raise a support ticket.
Select Push Notification, then In Progress. Here you can view any Drafts you have started, or to create a new notification click the Create button.
Select the site you want to create a Push Notification for from the drop-down list.
In the Title field type what you’d like the title of your Push Notification to say. There is a 65 character limit so we recommend a short and snappy title. Emojis are supported in this field.
In the Message field, type some further details to be sent in the Notification. Emojis are supported in this section too. A character limit of 150 characters is in place to ensure compatibility across devices.Â
You can then choose to add an image to your Notification. Click the Image button and upload your chosen image. There is a maximum file limit of 1MB.
The link section supports both external links and dynamic links. This is where your users will be taken when they click the Notification. To include an external link, simply paste the URL including the https:// into the link field. To Dynamic Link to a page already existing on the platform, click the blue Q button and search for the existing page or product.
Note: Make sure the content you dynamic link to is already published
If you’d like to segment the content use the Audience button to choose which segment your Push Notification should be shared with. Please see our course on Content Segmentation to find out more about this.Â
You can override a user's subscription preference when sending a Push Notification by checking the below box, this means that users who have opted out of Push Notifications will receive the notification. This should only be used for important announcements and not for marketing. Remember, if a user has switched off notifications via their phone settings, we cannot override this.
We recommend sending a preview notification to your email address so you can check you are happy with everything before you send to users. You can do this by typing your email address in the preview box and clicking Send Preview Push Notification. You will receive a preview on Web & App.
When you’re happy with the notification you can choose to Send Immediately or to Schedule in advance. You can also Save Draft to come back to a notification later.
If scheduling, in the pop-up box pick the date and time in the future when you'd like your Push Notification to send and click Apply and then Schedule.
You can Pause Schedule up until 15 minutes before the scheduled time to edit your Push Notification.
