Structuring great Single Post Notifications

We often send single posts out as notifications to alert readers to an important offer, competition, event or update we want them to be aware of.

Unlike a newsletter with multiple posts, a single post is the highlight of this notification. Similar to a newsletter, however, we need to grab the reader's attention and make them want to open the email and proceed through to the platform.

What makes a great notification?

  • Use a different subject line from the original heading, so it's clear, concise, timely and inspires action. Consider changes like these to make your notification stand out in an inbox.

  • Use a bright, eye-catching image in the post and a unique title with a clear description or instructions on what the post is about:

  • A single post notification will pull in the first paragraph of your post for the description. Therefore, when writing a post destined for a single post notification, the title and excerpt should be crafted with this in mind. However, you can also tweak the wording on a published post, if necessary, to shorten the description and summarise what you are telling the reader in a sentence or two. Keeping your summary short will help grab the reader's attention by being clear with what you are telling or asking them:

Remember, if you want to make sure your notification is showing just as you want it to, send a preview to yourself before scheduling
