How to write an engaging Event Post

Hosting or promoting an event? A well-written Event Post can help boost attendance! 

An event post can be used to promote an event you're hosting, something that is taking place at your building or something that's happening in the local area. It can appear on the Homepage, Featured Carousel and Events page, so people can engage with it in plenty of places.

Not sure how to write a great Event Post? Follow our tips below and make sure your next Event Post is the star of the show!

Title
Make your title eye-catching and exciting to attract the attention of your users. The title should clearly say what the event is and what users can expect, for example, 'Break a sweat at our complimentary Bootcamp' as opposed to simply 'Bootcamp'.

We recommend using a call to action in your event titles such as 'Join us for our Summer BBQ' or 'Paint a Masterpiece at our Arts & Crafts evening'.

Users can then click on the post to find out more.

Body
We recommend breaking the body down into the following sections: 

  • Introduction - This should summarise your event in 150 characters or less

  • Main text - This should be a couple of paragraphs explaining what the event is, where it is, who will be there, when it is and why people should attend. Make sure all the important information is included.

  • Call to action - Let your users know what you'd like them to do next! Should they RSVP to attend? Leave a comment to join the waitlist? Click a link to purchase a ticket? Make sure you've given a clear instruction to finish the post.

Don't forget

  • If you're hosting the event, make sure you turn on RSVP's and Check-ins, and cap the attendance where needed.

  • Make the event sound fun and exciting! Highlight the benefits of attending the event and what users can expect to see

  • If you're promoting an event in the local area or online, include a link to the organiser's website so users can find further information
