Image Diversity
Content images are prominent across the web and app so it is important to ensure that these reflect the diverse nature of humanity. The images you use across the platform should include people from all races and a balance of age, gender, ability, family structure, religion, body shape, and not reinforce gender stereotypes.
When selecting images for use, you can use the following checklist to check how appropriate it is.
Are there as many women represented as men?
Does the image show people of colour?
Are a range of ages represented, from young to old, for both men and women?
Is there a way you can represent people with visible disabilities?
Can you find an image that shows diverse body types?
If you’re struggling to find an image that doesn’t tick two or more boxes on this checklist then we recommend opting for an image without an individual included at all, for example using inanimate objects such as a pair of dumbbells for a fitness class, or a dog doing yoga.
